hee.. it has be ages since i last blogged.. and a lot has happened indeed.. from our post exam celebrations to shaq's birthday to leejing's farewell party :)

exams officially ended on the 22nd of june.. and we headed over to the city for a yummy jap dinner before going over to the ferris wheel :) and i gotta say, Melbourne does indeed look a lot prettier from above :)

for shaq's birthday, it was a night of partying at 4 different clubs.. thank goodness for transport, cuz it was extremely cold! hanis' gf, syaheeda came over for a holiday too and it was good fun, though leejing and i sat out more often.. heee :) we even had games on the bus and shaq gave an awesome speech along the way :)

hehheh.. and then there was the mad shopping :) leejing and syaheeda had to get souvenirs, so it was a week of walking, shopping and eating :) i miss it loads girls! shopping isn't the same without u guys :) we even ran into Melissa and Leanne at Supre, which was a pleasant surprise after not seeing them after so so long! :) oohhh.. and sughim even made this yummy, yummy, berry cheesecake.. and we didn't feel that guilty eating it cuz it was low-fat! :)

leejing, i miss u heaps girl! thanks for being my green tea frapp cum study buddy.. hehe.. that was 2 weeks of hard work over at Starbucks yeahh? i'll always remember how we'll take ages to decide on the drink, only to end up ordering green tea frapp - in the venti size! :) haha.. and we'll "smuggle" KFC, or salads and sandwiches from Thresherman's for dinner :) how we'll shiver in the cold on the way back to unilodge, how we'll study at ground.. how we'll go to church together.. all the shopping that we've done..

thanks for being like my older sister leejing.. thanks for always looking out for me :) heee.. and i'm so so happy i'll see u soon! :) hahaha.. let's head over to Starbucks then yeah? :)

easter break

Can't believe the week after Easter break came and went just like that! Perhaps it was cuz we were studying (or attempting to.. hehe) all week, which left us mentally drained. I'm glad it's over.. but that leaves me with a gene tech report, presentation slides and a cell bio assay that i have to finish this week. Oh No.

But yeahh.. Easter break was pretty awesome.. started it off with the Good Friday service at Scot's Church.. it was nice to finally go to the main chuch, since the contemporary youth service that i usually attend is only held in a school hall. it was a little weird for me at first, cuz i felt like i was the youngest there.. but the service was something new for me.. and the church choir's really good!! :)

we then had a potluck over at Sughim and Jastina's place at night! :) hehe.. was heaps of fun.. with Sughim and Jastina preparing pineapple rice, beef balls, and muah chee, Xianning preparing cha ye dan, and Yas, Leejing, Lisa and I preparing omelette, sambal french beans and cordial.. :)

hehe.. we had a few rounds of daidee after that.. and Xianning's a pro!! she won every single game.. hahaha :) we then had a really long game of bluff, which never really ended.. despite playing for close to an hour i think! haha.. and eventually heart attack, which left us screaming.. and the cards - battered and bruised.. hahaha! :) oh yeah.. and thanks for the choco bunny Sughim and Jastina! it's too cute to be eaten.. ahahah :)

Saturday morning had Sughim, Jastina, Xianning and I going over to Maccas for breakfast! :) the portions are slightly smaller then the ones in Singapore.. but it tastes a lot yummier :) hehe.. we ended up watching Simpsons for a while before doing a bit of shopping! :)

Leejing and I went over to chuch again on Easter Sunday.. this time for the contemporary service and it was awesome :) we then joined the guys for bowling - just to watch them play and take more photos.. hehe.. before heading off to watch TNMT!! :)

Hari came back for the Easter break and we met up for lunch on friday at this Korean place which was pretty good! :) Yas, Leejing, Lisa and I then celebrated James' birthday at Cafe Correttos at Lygon.. we didn't eat much though.. cuz we had dinner back home - Gaffar and Reetish made Risotto! :) it was really good this time round, with Gaffar using swiss cheese (think tom and jerry - the cheese with lots of holes! hahaha), and the salad dressed with anchovies and mayo was yummy yummy yummy! :)

hehehe.. and what happens when you leave Leejing, Lisa and Bernice with a camera on a nice suny day on Union Lawn? :)

Yas had a meeting and she only joined us later.. we headed over to the Royal Children's Hospital for lunch at Maccas after that! :) and yes, we sat on the chairs meant for the little kids! cute?? :)

it's APRIL! :) hehe.. and firstly, HAPPY 21st YIZHEN! :) I'm sure you had heaps of fun yeah!! :)

it's amazing how time flies, and it's down to less than 3 months in Melbourne! went over to the Moomba Waterfest.. which was lovely! haha.. Yasmin, Lisa and Shaquille were the only ones game enough to try out one of the rides.. and the fireworks display was the best! :)

Mum and Dad came to visit on the 14th of March.. and thanks to Gaffar, who very kindly helped pick my parents up from the airport.. it was very much appreciated! :) though it was just a short trip this time around, it was a nice one nonetheless, with us spending the weekend at boxhill with a close family friend :)

haha.. and the night out to see the stars! a huge huge thankew to yasmin & gaffar!! it's a pity it was quite cloudy that night, and so we ended up taking photos instead!! :) u guys really made my day! :)

the day our NYP lecturers came to visit! :) Dr Lim and Dr Soh! hehe.. we had dinner over at Sofia's.. and we were treated to a very hearty meal indeed :) the portions were so huge that some looked untouched when we were done! It's always good to see familiar faces i guess.. and it brought back memories of times spent in NYP.. memories i'll always hold close to my heart :)

hahaha.. and the weekend of mad fun!!! :) we played truth or dare on friday night till 4am :) hehehe.. and it started pretty quiet actually.. till shaquille came along to join us later that is! :) hahah.. and since we agreed we'll keep whatever happened to ourselves, i'll just post these pics.. which isn't much unless you see the videos! :)

school has started officially for 2 weeks now.. and i'm still missing the summer break.. who doesn't?? but the lecture notes' piling up, the assignments are coming, and the tests are approaching.. whoever mentioned that semester 1 would be easier?

haha.. but just to update on what i've been up to since the last time i blogged, i've done a few collages, with more photos over at photobucket. :)

frankston beach!! an hour and a half to get there, but it was all worth it! one of the best beaches we've been to in Melbourne, and had heaps of fun! :) haha.. the footprints in the sand shots, the insane poses, the obsession over our shadows, our huge huge ice-cream for just 3 dollars, wacky videos and our very own "love letter in a bottle" :)

chicken and mushroom risotto!! thanks to gaffar. :) i've heard so much about it, seen people prepare it on tv, but i've never got to try one - till now :) it's hard work, but absolutely yummy! haha.. and not forgetting the oven-baked chicken wings too :)

yasmin's birthday!! haha.. a lot of effort went into the surprises, but although she found out eventually, i guess she enjoyed the celebration.. hehehe.. :) sorry abt lying abt the waterfall! and confusing u so much.. hahaha.. and sorry abt "that", yas - i'm glad it didn't ruin ur celebration, and i guess i have to thank gaffar for that huh? :)

ivy's 21st!! we had dinner at a mexican restaurant, which was something new for everyone.. :) the food was good, though a little pricey.. went over to her place at abt 12 midnight on tuesday too and the surprise went well! thanks to her housemate Priscilla :)

hmm.. and it's march. and i've come to realize that in just four more months, i might be leaving the place that i have grown to love so so much - a place with 4 seasons in one day. a place where i've made so many wonderful friends that i'm extremely thankful for. a place where i've learnt life lessons, and have grown more independent. a place where i've shed some tears. a place that brought me a lot of laughter and beautiful memories nonetheless. a place that i wish i could call home one day. a place i'm not ready to leave and head for home. not yet.

haha.. was supposed to have blogged this ages ago! :)

life back in Melbourne has only gotten better! :) thanks to Yasmin and Leejing, i got to know a fantastic bunch of people here that has made life heaps of fun! :) the highlights of my past 2 weeks here?

Gaffar, who works as a chef, made pancakes with heaps of maple syrup and ice cream that were oh-so yummy! :)

Peixin, a good friend of Haozhen, dropped by for a visit last week and we went over to Port Melbourne for fish and chips at Rex Hunt's! We walked all the way to St. Kilda's after, only to stop at a children's playground in between, and had a blast playing on the see-saw :) yep.. with Haozhen and Yasmin on one side and Peixin and me on the other! hahaha.. imagine 4 young adults on the see-saw! *embarrassed*

went over to the royal botanical gardens on Saturday for a picnic! :) it was nice to get away from the city for a while, and even the drizzle couldn't dampen our spirits.. Raul recommended a spot with a splendid view.. and lunch consisted of sandwiches and noodles he prepared, Ivy's potato salad, and the chips, profiteroles and drinks we brought along.. :)

headed over to Nando's at Melbourne Central after that for dinner.. it wasn't too bad.. was surprised that they actually had it really spicy.. since it's so rare to get spicy food over at Melbourne!! :)

popped by Strike on Sunday.. was pretty fun though i didn't actually bowled.. haha.. but it was nice cheering the rest on.. the girls played a different lane from the guys cuz the guys are pretty good.. and Hanis is awesome at it! :)

tuesday had us going for a little road trip - Blue Hills berry farm!! Yasmin arranged the trip while Gaffar drove, and although getting there was a bit difficult cuz we didn't have Melway with us, we got there in the end! with the help of the friendly people we met along the way! :)

it was really beautiful, and wonderful to be so close to nature! :) haha.. and although we were only told to pick raspberries, blackberries and strawberries, we went to the prune and nectarine trees too.. :) Gaffar picked those off the ground since they drop when ripened, so technically we didn't actually pluck them.. hehe :) gosh.. and they were so so sweet!! haha.. and our nails and fingers turned purple-ish-red from the juices of the berries! :)

we're pretty lucky the weather was awesome! though it started to rain after.. but ahh.. we had heaps of fun!! :) haha.. we then headed over to a picnic spot on our way back, right in the heart of the lush greenery with a little stream through it.. :) we then stopped by KFC for tea, before dropping by St Kilda's for a bit! :)

haha.. but the best bit?? valentine's day! :) Raul was sweet enough to get us roses and chocolates.. and although it was intended to be an all-girls affair, Gaffar joined us for dinner at La Porchetta and we ended up meeting the guys at Docklands after.. :) spent the time taking silly photos and making fun of one another - hilarious! :) we then went over to Haozhen's place for champagne, ice cream and chocolate! :) haha.. but although we didn't stay over as intended, we had heaps of fun nonetheless! :)

it's 2am now that i'm back at Melbourne!

the farewell was a teary affair, and although the homesickness has been around more often that i want it to, it's getting easier with the guys here at Melbourne! :) Thankew! :) i finally understand why people say it's worse the second time round.

went to watch "The Pursuit of Happyness" in the afternoon, and it's awesome! i'm not sure if it's already out in Singapore, but make sure you catch it! :) dinner was then spent at a chinese restaurant over at Chinatown - Peking duck! :)

i'll update more next time, but i just have to post this!! :) thanks to Haozhen, she showed me where Fifteen was located at! :) yupp.. the Jamie Oliver restaurant over at Collins Street! hehe.. i even had to bug Leejing for the pics.. hahaha.. :)

i'm definately gonna go over on my birthday! if i'm still here at Melbourne that is.. :)

spent my weekend eating this time round! :) haha.. on Saturday, popped over to this Japanese place at Revenue House with Amelia and Yizhen. it was an all-girls affair due to a slight miscommunication, but all's well! we had our share of fun! :)

tried snail for the very first time! i heard escargots tasted like chicken, but no one ever told me what snail sushi tasted like.. heheh.. well, it had texture similar to that of octopus, and as for how it tasted.. hmm.. the sesame oil seasoning masked it all! :)

dessert had to be our ultimate favourite! i tried matcha azuka.. which was green tea ice cream served with a generous amount of japanese red beans, rice balls and strawberry "love letters". :) Amelia and Yizhen shared nihon sensation.. a house specialty i guess.. which contained fresh mangoes and strawberries (and 2 additional frozen strawberries) topped with mango ice cream. :)

hehe.. and as for Sunday, had more jap food for lunch!! while dinner had us heading over to Longbeach at East Coast for yummy seafood with a family friend :) haven't had chilli crabs for ages.. and the reason i waited this long since i've returned to Sg? i haven't had any major cravings yet! hehe.. but now that i've had crabs.. i'm missing the black pepper ones now! :)

just three more weeks before i leave for Melbourne.. think i'm gonna miss Sg loads!

spent the day watching loads of teevee today, while knitting and waiting for my very slightly swollen gums to heal! :) hahaz.. morning had me glued to the BBC and asian food channel :) yepp.. cuz of the wonderful DIY and culinary programs! :)

i then watched an uber sweet Japanese film in the afternoon - "Be with You" :) haha.. yepp.. know the title sounds like a typical romanti-ky story, but it's more than that! Of course it didn't come without much tears.. which is rather typical of Japanese and Korean films.. haha.. but it was lovely to watch anyway! :)

Now, the plot seems far-fetched i guess.. about a woman who made a promise at her deathbed to return to visit her husband and son a year later during the rainy season. The family then makes the most of their lives on "borrowed time".. which touched me the most because the thing about these films is that you actually feel the love and warmth. well, so much that you cry along with them too.. urgh. :(

watched Prison Break at night.. it seems as if they repeated the entire season.. but watching just an episode every week is pretty horrid.. cuz i'll most prob be back in Melb before they're done with season 1.. and over at Melb, they'll most prob be done with season 2, no? hahah.. maybe i should just head over to the cd rental shops :)

i had the wisdom teeth on my right removed today. i must admit that it has been something that i've been trying to avoid, simply because the thought of having to go through an operation (no matter how minor it is) scares me. it was the first time i dreaded going over to the dentist, really.

haha.. but thankfully, it was over in less than an hour! :) i had an x-ray done first, before having local anaesthesia which hurt quite a bit.. but then i started feeling so numb that i could hardly pronouce my words properly!

uncle poon then explained what would be done, and assured me that since my lower wisdom tooth was at a safe distance from one of the nerves, it would be a relatively easy procedure - "a 5 minute job, stitches and all" :) haha.. and he also mentioned that i had to control my tears if i didn't want my cheek to swell!

haha.. so as promised, i was out pretty quick with a very numb jaw and a couple of stitches. hmmz.. won't be able to eat solid food for a while i reckon! :)

watching the plane leave Melbourne for Singapore, i had mixed feelings. i guess it was because i knew i would miss Melbourne loads, yet on the other hand, i looked forward to life back in Singapore.. where i could sleep in as late as i wanted, watch my favourite series on tv (it’s difficult having a shared tv at hostel, believe me.. and the look on the other residents' faces when they see you watching say Jamie Oliver instead of Simpsons is classic.. hahaha), eat yummy affordable food, have makan sessions with the guys and simply stay home :)

the trip back was pretty alright, except that i had a terrible headache thanks to the wine.. hehe.. and ended up sleeping most of the time, while Jastina learnt Jap :) but we did manage to take a few photos! haha.. and thanks to amelia and yizhen for coming over to the airport.. it was definately much appreciated! :)

well, it has been 3 weeks since, and it has been a lovely time of get-togethers with family and friends! :) mum was on leave, and i got to eat yummy home-cooked food that i had missed so so much. :) most of the days were spent shopping.. meeting up with pple i haven't seen for ages, and simply spending quality time with my family :)

the first saturday was spent watching a netball finals with amelia and yizhen and it was awesome! i never really knew much about the game initially, and through the constant bugging and yizhen's helpful explanations, i now understand the game a little better i hope! :) hehe.. met up with the guys for dinner after that at 'changing appetites'. it was nice catching up with them although junwei had to leave early..

met up with the same group of guys before Christmas too.. and this time i remembered to take photos... hahaha.. had dinner at this korean place at suntec that yizhen recommended, and though it was a little pricey, we still had quite a bit of fun.. though i think we made so much noise the waitresses got a bit irritated.. hehee :)

ohoh.. and i went over to NCC to visit when i got back.. with the Krispy Kreme i got of course! hehe.. it was lovely seeing them again, but they were a little busy since i only called in the morning to ask if i could come over.. hahahaz.. but i got to meet up with them again at their Christmas party and this time around i got to see a couple of new but familiar faces! Saw 2 NYP seniors.. Celine (who just graduated from UoM!!) and Yu Min :)

got to talk to Prof Kon too and i've come to realize even more now, that research is something i am passionate about :) nevermind that work hours are somewhat long; nevermind that you'll might have to go through many failed attempts before you eventually succeed; nevermind that you'll have tons of journals to read to keep up to date with the latest research. think about instead, that you could help improve the quality of someone's life; that you could possibly help find a cure for a disease or a relief from severe pain; that you could help bring a smile to someone's face. isn't it all worth it? :)

well, it's 2007 now, but i've been so busy i haven't had the time to think about my resolutions for this year yet.. haha.. pretty late i know.. but will come to that soon! :) have a wonderful year ahead guys! take care! *hugz*

went over to St Kilda's and Brighton beach yesterday!! :) it was good fun! St Kilda's wasn't much actually, except for the art and craft market.. from pretty mirrors to necklaces and earings.. everything was done by hand.. but it was pretty ex.. so i didn't get anything.. oh yeahh.. and we wanted to head over to Luna Park for the rides and stuff.. but the place was booked for a private function!! :( i'll have to wait till next time then!

as for Brighton beach, it was absolutely beautiful! the beach houses were uber lovely.. and we had fun taking quite a bit of pictures.. hehe.. the weather was pretty good too.. thank goodness! so we sat ard for about an hour or so.. haha..

hmmz.. my bag's almost packed and this is gonna be the last post i'll be writing at Melbourne this year! it's gonna be pretty sad i guess.. i'm gonna miss the friends i've made here, and of course my friends from Singapore who will be staying over at Melbourne over Summer.. i'm gonna miss the trams, the shopping, the songs on the radio, the baking sessions, the "wayang" sessions according to Yasmin, and most importantly, the endless gossip and heart-to-heart sessions.. :)

met up with Hari, Huei San and Hwee Ngee for lunch at this Jap place at Chinatown today too.. followed by dessert at Max Brenner.. the food wasn't too bad, but the company was wonderful! haven't laughed that hard for a while i guess! and i got to know you guys a bit more too.. like how Huei San loves baking too! and Hwee Ngee's such a joy to talk to, while Hari loves his microwave oven loads.. hahah.. :)

and yeah, like what Hari said, on one hand, you'll miss the friends u have back home, yet on the other hand u'll miss the friends that u've made here.. hmm.. that's life i guess? i'm just glad i'm lucky enough to have made many good friends along the way.. love u guys! :)

collingwood, scienceworks and great ocean road

Yay! had so much fun over the last two days!!! :)

on Thursday, we went over to Collingwood Children's Farm as well as Scienceworks and Melbourne PLanetarium!! hehe.. was really cool cuz we got concession! :) Collingwood was pretty fun.. haha.. it was the first time going into an actual farm to actually be in such close proximity with the animals! from guinea pigs to cows to donkeys to horses to pigs!! hahaha.. well, except for the smell and the "animal droppings" around, it was really enjoyable.. hehe.. got to feed the animals and all.. a pity we didn't get to milk the cows though! haha.. but yeahh.. i think there were quite a few kindergarten or lower primary kids around, most probably wondering why 3 relatively old girls were running around with the goats and such.. heehee :)

then we popped over to Scienceworks, where we got free admission! hehe.. only AUD$4 for admission to Melbourne Planetarium, where we got to watch a show, and had a peek at Melbourne's night sky! :) absolutely loved that cuz we had such comfy chairs, and watched in this dome-shaped structure while lying down.. :) Scienceworks was pretty cool too.. mostly sports related stuff, and how things worked.. from washing machines to irons.. it was really an eye-opener.. hehe.. :) oh yeahh.. and we actually went up to the second floor, which was actually meant for little kids, but we didn't know.. haha.. ended up going around taking photos till this guy was like "actually, this area is just for little kids, but you can take your photo first.." hahhaa.. was really embarrassed after that! :)

and then on Friday! GREAT OCEAN ROAD!!!! :) we set off from Su Ghim and Jastina's place at 6.30am, and our tour guide of the day was Uncle Richard. the journey was really long i must say.. but the views were magnificent. i'm definately gonna go over again before i leave melbourne once i'm done with my degree.. it's absolutely love-ly!! the route we took can be found on Jastina's blog, so do go over to check it out if you're interested! and perhaps you can drive over if you're adventurous! :)

we had little breaks here and there, but the highlight was the twelve apostles of course! :) though it was sad that one fell earlier this year.. but isn't it amazing how nature works? that it's just through erosion that you get amazing formations like cliffs, stumps, caves and arches? and you have beautiful coasts and clear turquoise waters that comes with it? the view was breathtaking.. and nothing beats being there itself, just to inhale the fresh salty air, feel the sea breeze on your face, looking at the various formations in awe, and just take it all in... :) haha.. yupp.. not even 400 photos and video.. yepp.. that's how much we took.. hehe.. :)

hahaz.. going over to St Kilda's and Brighton beach tomorrow! another round of mad photo-taking sessions i'm sure.. hehehe.. can't wait! :)

it has been ages since i last blogged! :) my papers didn't go as well as i wanted, but i'm hoping it'll be alright!

yeahh.. and right before my last 2 papers, I had to say goodbye to a good friend - Oliver. Oliver was one of the first few that i got to know quite well over at Melbourne, and being my next door neighbour, it was much easier.. :) he always had a smile on his face, and he never failed to make me laugh no matter how bad my day was.. and yeahh.. it's gonna be sad that i'll be missing his farewell party once he gets back from his trip cuz i'll be leaving for Singapore a few days earlier.. thank you Oliver, for being a such a great friend! :) thanks for the laughter, the listening ear.. but most importantly, the memories.. :)

Auf Wiedersehen, mein Freund. Ich werde Sie vermissen! :)

hmmz.. shall move on to the happier stuff.. hehe.. we headed off to myers after our last paper! had insane fun with the soft toys - much to the amusement of the many passerbys.. hehe.. and the Christmas decos were lovely.. i mean it.. you don't get to see stuff like that back in Singapore! :) haha.. they actually had a train for the little kids! and they could either write a letter to Santa and place it into the mailbox, or they could actually email him! how cool is that huh?? :)

saturday was FUN!! Lee Jing, Su Ghim and myself got to make a gingerbread house! :) hehee.. although the gingerbread was bought from the bakery, we got to put the house together, frosting and lollies and all! :) a pity it collapsed even before we reached home, cuz we didn't allow the frosting to dry fully.. haha.. but i managed to get some pics anyway!! :) hehe.. hope you don't get a toothache just by looking at it :)

we went over to a British bar cum club that night as well.. to unwind for a bit after the exams.. and also cuz haozhen will be moving to another apartment soon.. and that was followed by one of the cafes at Crown.. we stayed till about 3 plus i guess, before taking cabs home cuz it was freezing! haha.. and then we had tea till 5 plus i guess.. cuz the sun was almost up by then! :)

headed to Williamstown beach on tuesday! which was good! and like Jastina said, even a normal beach like Williamstown is way better than East Coast.. hehe.. looking forward to Brighton Beach and St Kilda's! :)

hahaz.. it's SWOT VAC! and that means study break.. which equals to having exams in a week's time! OH NO.

thought i'll take a little break to unwind a bit.. the notes are driving me quite mad, replication cycles, glucose industries, cancers, and protein kinases.. urgh.. but i believe i'll get through it somehow.. it'll all be over by the 24th bernice! ENDURE!! :)

hahaz.. anyhow.. my last week at school was pretty fun! we had 3 birthday celebrations!! :) hehe.. we celebrated lee jing's birthday again with a cake this time round at 12 midnight on tues! :) it was hilarious.. cuz jastina and su ghim came over with the cake and prezzie.. and only when we decided to prepare and all did we realize that the candles came without a base.. hehe.. ended up using a paper clip instead cuz it would be impossible to stuff the huge "2" into the cake! thanks to jastina who thought abt it! :) hehe.. hope it was a nice surprise lee jing, and sorry abt scaring u so late at night.. hahaha.. sorry we couldn't tell u beforehand too, cuz it won't be a surprise mahh.. :)

ended up going to city and vic market after class on thurs.. purpose? to shop enough for a month cuz of the exams.. hahaha.. serious. we ended up doing a bit of shopping as well and ended up going home at 8 plus.. hahaz.. but yepp.. we had a crazy time over at bigw.. the Christmas decos are on sale over here already!! and yeahh.. haha.. we had so much groceries that we ended up taking the tram home.. hahaha :) met a couple of housemates too.. who most probably thought we were stocking up for war or something.. hahaa :)

celebrated kennie's birthday after that.. and it was probably the most embarrassing thing i've done at Melbourne so far.. haha.. what happened was that we lit the candles at the corridor, but on the way to kennie's room (door 3, and the lights were turned off), we stopped halfway to re-light the candles cuz they got blown off.. hahaz.. yasmin, lee jing and i then turned to the nearest door and started knocking happily.. hahaha.. only to realize it was door 2!! AND we ended up waking her up so i guess she was quite unhappy abt it.. hehehe.. so sorry! :) celebrated haozhen's birthday on saturday too! :) don't have the pics now, but hopefully i'll be able to post 'em up soon.. :)

hahahz.. oh yeah! and friday was insane.. hahaz.. being the last day of school, jastina and sughim decided to stay over for the night.. we ended up watching "Lake House" and "Fun with Dick and Jane" over chips and had good fun! :) haha.. but i fell asleep for almost half of the 2nd movie.. hehe.. was too tired.. :)

we finished watching by 4.30 am i guess.. and ended up having our own singing session.. yupp.. at such an unearthly time in the morning.. hahaha.. and had a "girl-talk" session after.. hahaz.. the usual topics.. and how we'll be like 5 yrs down the road.. and about meeting up every CNY to catch up.. hehe.. that'll be lovely won't it? :)

and then it happened.. hail storm!! hehe.. although it was a mini one.. it happened twice! hahaz.. i ended up taking the photos and jastina took the videos.. it was madness really.. hahaha.. and it was so so cold! and i just read from xianning's blog that it actually snowed! a pity we missed that..

hahaz.. but yep.. this definately isn't something you'll see in Singapore yep? :)

last week of school

Aaaah! hahahaz.. it's the last week of school already! can't believe 3 months went by.. just like that. :( exams will be here in 2 weeks, and i'll be looking forward to going home for the hols in dec.. miss u guys! :) we have to go out to makan okie? :)

hehe.. and yup! the weekend was loads of fun! pretty much the last weekend we could really enjoy and all before the exams.. hahaz.. and we celebrated Leejing's birthday! had dinner at Bismi.. hoho.. and it was Deepavali so it was pretty crowded! :) the food wasn't too bad.. just that it wasn't spicy enough! and i tried mutton briyani for the first time.. haha.. cuz i've never liked mutton back in Singapore as i always felt that there was this strong smell and weird taste to it.. but it was really good here! shared that, along with prawn masala with Sughim! :) hehe.. Jastina and Xianning had chicken murtabak, which was like prata with minced chicken inside.. yummy! :) and Yasmin and Leejing had this prawn pizza thosai, which was rather interesting.. but there were tons of onions, green peppers and green peas poor Yasmin had to pick em all out! :) but i still love the masala thosai from Singapore.. i'm definately gonna eat that when i get back!! :)

hahaz.. and the funniest thing that happened that night? we couldn't enter a bar.. hehe.. i know i'm being difficult in a way.. cuz i'm the only one who doesn't like it and i know the rest love it, or don't mind it.. hahaz.. but i just don't like the smoke in there.. and having to go for an interview on Monday and almost recovering from a having a really bad throat i didn't want to.. but yes Yasmin, i will try to go the next time if the occasion calls for it.. but yupp.. the reason we couldn't get in? cuz we need either a passport or driver's licence over here to verify ur age.. uni cards or our residential ID card wasn't accepted either, as the bouncer actually said we could make a fake one.. haha.. so yep! we ended up going over to Starbucks instead.. for a coffee session, as well as an insanely crazy photo-taking session.. hehehe.. :)

hahaz.. and Sunday was spent at church.. :) it was nice, although there were lesser pple than usual.. hahaz.. but Oliver and Elaine were part of the worship team.. which was good! didn't know they could play the guitar and piano respectively.. :) we then headed over to hungry jack's (burger king in Singapore) for a quick bite before popping by to Sun's place for her birthday party.. hahaz.. was initially quite embarrassed, cuz both Leejing and i didn't know her personally.. but the rest of the group were really nice abt it, and told us that we could just go along anyway.. hahaz.. and it was pretty fun! Sun's Korean and she's really funny.. and Leejing and i got to know Keiko from Japan! :) she's really sweet! and the 3 of us managed to click quite well.. hahaz.. guess it was cuz all 3 of us didn't know Sun personally, but rather, came along with friends who knew her.. hehe.. :)

haha.. taken on a day when we were really free! :) additions were done by Yasmin! :)

hahaz.. the weekend was pretty alright for me.. went out on Saturday.. managed to do a bit of grocery and normal shopping.. hehe.. :) then attended church on Sunday with Lee Jing.. it was introduced by Oliver - my nextdoor neighbour from Germany! really enjoyed the sermon.. and the people there were really nice :) had dinner with them after that and it got really cold.. hahaz.. Lee Jing and I ended up shivering all the way home!

we went for bible study on Monday night as well.. it wasn't too bad.. although they just finished a book last week so we didn't do much.. hehe.. but they're organizing a bbq this sat.. not sure if i'll be able to attend it cuz i've got 2 tests coming up :(

Ooh.. and it was unusually hot today! rather unbearable actually.. since i'm quite used to the cold now i guess.. hahaz.. but it was 31 degrees i believe.. and it's only Spring!! AND it's gonna be 30 degrees tmr.. haha.. can't imagine how Summer's gonna be like! i shan't think about how it's gonna be like when i return home.. hahaha... :)

on a separate note.. it's gonna be the exams in less than a month's time!! i'm praying i'll be able to get through it.. 80% is really really huuge. hmmz.. especially for the microbiology ones cuz the last test wasn't very encouraging.. :(

i've never been so stressed out before i must say.. there's just loads to read, to memorize, and to understand.. and i always had this mentality that going overseas to study was gonna be easier than mugging in Singapore.. but i've never been more wrong. it's insane. and having to do all the chores all by yourself adds to the load!

hmmz.. and the fact that mum's not here to prepare yummy, nutritious food, or to brew ginko nuts desserts makes it worse. i miss home..

i started a fire!

an eventful day for me today i suppose! the test turned out to be a total disaster, and i'm seriously afraid i'm not gonna do well.. i'll be happy if i pass, really. i've never been good at memorizing stuff and prefer to understand concepts rather than regurgitate everything during exams/tests.. but yup.. i've tried my best :)

and yes.. who started a fire today? yours truly. i'm serious. i'm not trying to point fingers here, but the stove was cloggy and having smoke whenever we used it was a norm. but apparently not today! i'm hoping it isn't cuz of the lack of sleep.. cuz i know i was really distracted.. so yeahh.. there i was happily frying my omelette (i even forgot to add salt and pepper).. and as usual, it started to get smoky.. my floormate turned on the ventilator for me (which i had forgotten to do so) and then it started. orange flames. Yasmin asked if it was a fire, and i lifted my pan.. to my horror, it was. AND it got bigger. OH NO.

i was stunned for a bit, and the only thing i could think about was to get something to cover it.. and what did i see? haha.. my dear mixing bowl. yupp.. the one i made my salads in, my chocolate strawberry cake and my cheesecake. and just when i thought the fire would die out, we realized all 4 stoves were connected so effectively i didn't cut off the oxygen supply successfully. double OH NO.

so i ran down to get the residential advisor who was surprised that there was a REAL fire, cuz most of the time it was just false alarms, and surprisingly the fire alarm didn't go off today! hahaz.. but yeah.. when he came up and lifted the mixing bowl, the fire was extinguished, leaving an entire ring of black soot and a very black mixing bowl. :) hahaha.. but thankfully we managed to contain the fire. am much relieved! :) i'm gonna miss my mixing bowl though :)

and yep! wanted to blog this earlier but didn't have the time to do so.. the sprinkler in one of the rooms on level 6 broke on sunday.. at abt midnight i guess.. leaving 7 floors of rooms soaking wet.. we even resorted to using dustbins to collect the water cuz there was just too much.. even the lights got cut off! everyone got really worried, and some people even started taking photos! haha.. but then the fire brigade came along, rather irritated i believe, and didn't manage to turn off the water till about 2 hrs later i think.. haha.. but yupp.. what a week eh? :)

i hope nothing bad happens tomorrow!

Jastina's Birthday!!

hahahz! gonna do a short post cuz we had loads of fun yesterday!! :) reason: Jastina's Birthday!! :) and i've got pictures to prove it! :) hehe..

we went over to Ying Thai at Lygon Street.. the place looked a little weird at first cuz it was bright green, pink and blue! haha.. but the food was nice i must say! the only thing we didn't like? it wasn't spicy enough!! haha.. and we finished this little pot of chilli flakes and had to ask for another one.. much to the amazement of the waitress :)

hehe.. and quite a lot happened throughout the dinner.. there'll be occasional cheers or jeers round the corner, or across the road for that matter.. i guess cuz it was footy final today or something? sydney swans vs west coast eagles if i'm not wrong (don't know much abt footy so please pardon me if i've gotten it wrong!)

and yeahh.. u'll see people with either the red and white scarfs/gear or the blue and yellow ones respectively.. haha.. and the cutest fans we saw? a group of kids! siblings i believe.. haha.. holding on to the flag and rooting for sydney swans all the way down the street.. with this older guy (total stranger/grandparent?)who was rooting for eagles, attempting to drown their cheers with his! :)

haha.. and yes! the lovely cake, bought by Xian Ning, was from Jastina's bf.. yummy! :) haha.. and this lady was really sweet.. she actually stopped to wish Jastina! :) hahaz.. but then there was this other guy.. rather drunk i believe, who just appeared out of no-where, stood between Xian Ning and myself and said something like "u girls can't finish the cake by urselves riight? hur hur.." :S

we went over to an irish bar after that.. which i was rather reluctant about at first.. but dear Yasmin promised me we'll take fruit juice which turned out otherwise.. hahaha.. but yeahh.. it was pretty nice with the live band and all.. so it wasn't too bad.. except for the smoke.. :)

yupp! and Su Ghim and Jastina came over earlier.. and we had dinner together! we had pasta.. the cream cheese one :) with chicken.. and Yasmin made her speciality! potatoes, chicken ham and crabmeat (please come up with a name for this Yasmin!) hahaz.. and we had a bit of carrot cake from a floormate, followed by Ski berry basket yoghurt with blueberries! :)

i think i'm really gonna miss Spring break TONS. it's a lovely way to end the week i must say.. and it's time to get back to books, lecture notes and assignments! can't wait for summer vacation!! hehe :)

it's tuesday! hahaz.. and i'll be having a microbiology test in exactly a week's time.. oh no! :( i'm only about a third through.. and i'm really afraid i'll forget everything when i'm there.. hahah.. hopefully not! :)

and if that's not bad enough.. i have a major assignment due on the 6th of oct :( i've got my topic and sourced most of the materials.. so it's all about sitting down and taking the effort to write it really.. hahaha..

yepp.. and as i type this.. i've officially less than a week of spring break left! i'm gonna miss it loads.. the occasional shopping, the extensive grocery shopping (amazingly.. yes.) - our frequent trips to safeway, big w and vic market! - carrying bag loads of food, snacks, desserts and yep.. vegetables :)

it's gonna be back to sandwiches in lunchboxes once school starts, or salads for that matter.. where we'll only find time to cook proper dinners.. i'm gonna miss the chat sessions.. haha.. yasmin and lee jing, u know what i mean.. hehe.. :) and yes, time flies indeed - all the more when you're having fun! :) oh yes!! and i haven't even baked my lemon tart yet!! and my cheesecake :) haha.. i'm hoping i'll be able to take some time off in the weekend to do that! :)

haha.. yup.. and i've done a collage of the people in my life right now :) life at Melbourne has been fun because of you guys.. thanks for keeping me sane (riiight! haha), for the constant encouragement, for keeping the homesickness away, and for making my life a lot more colourful :) a huuge thankew! :) *hugz*

i can't believe i'm typing this with my notes right in front of me.. i just can't seem to get anything in! i'm starting to feel as if having two weeks of vacation isn't such a good idea after all.. i've successfully NOT studied for 3 days. yep.. THREE. and it's not that i don't want to.. my mind seems to be elsewhere.. just can't seem to concentrate!

was talking to gim ann and yizhen a while ago too.. and yeah.. was telling gim ann how it's really stressful when u see others studying and then you look at your notes, try your best to do the same, and all you do is to read the same line over and over and OVER again! and as for yizhen.. she has her tut to finish as well!

gosh.. i really feel unmotivated. maybe i should just head over to the library tmr!

i love vacations.. hehe.. i really really do!! :) hahaz.. my weekend went something like this: went over to queen vic, big w and safeway on saturday.. managed to get almost everything that i needed, but not quite! :) went over to safeway again on sunday for somemore last minute grocery shopping.. before su ghim and jastina brought us over to this ice cream place at lygon street! had durian and tiramisu ice cream! :) haha.. yeahh.. it's a weird combination, but i wanted to try something different! it was yummy!! hahaz.. although we were so full that we didn't have dinner after that.. :)

oh yes!! i managed to get my rolling pin, kitchen scales and baking pan over the weekend! :) hahahaz.. am much happy!! :) just finished washing up actually! su ghim and jastina came over a while ago, and we had a really nice chat over chips while waiting for the cake to be done.. :)

spring break

SPRING BREAK!! *yayness* haha.. i'll finally be able to wake up slightly later, have a nice warm breakfast, and try to get through my notes.. have lots of catching up to do! been pretty much distracted for the past week.. haha.. don't really know why though.. my guess would most probably cuz we had tests the week before and it was a much needed break.. :) hehe.. shopping contributed as well.. not that i bought lots of stuff, but yeahh.. it was just fun.. especially when you're with friends.. :)

going over to queen vic market tmr too! been deprived of vegetables cuz due to the lack of time, we did our grocery shopping over at safeway.. and hmmz.. i'll just say that it's just not as fresh as the ones u get from queen vic! :) will most probably go over to qv as well.. need slippers!! :)

and.. haha.. shelley made upside-down pineapple cake today too.. yummy!! :) hahaz.. i'm definately going overto big w tmr.. i really really need my baking tray, muffin tray, brownie tray, weighing scales, grease-proof paper, butter, flour, eggs, chocolate, muffin paper cups, spatula.. ahh.. not gonna get everything now though.. i will eventually.. slowly.. :) haha.. i miss baking so so much.. i think i might just start baking during my spring vacation.. hehehe :)

and yes! watched jamie's kitchen - the melbourne edition!! thanks to hari for reminding.. haha.. it wasn't as nice as i expected.. cuz it there's this other guy who's in charge.. but hopefully it'll get better.. the london edition was good! :) hehe.. but it was nice that su ghim and jastina came over.. watched it together with a bag of smiths.. yumm :) su ghim's another jamie oliver fan and yupp.. that helps me feel more normal.. hahaha :)

and yes.. free advertisement here.. hehe.. jamie's kitchen - melbourne is on on channel 10 on thursdays at 7.30pm!! :) AND i've also discovered that jamie oliver has a restaurant here.. italian-inspired dishes! :) hahaha.. and the worst bit? it's dreadfully near!! hahaha.. 115 collins street! :) can someone please accompany me? :)

heyz! :) hahaz.. decided to blog a little cuz i've just gotten over an extremely hectic week - one which involved an assignment and 2 tests! :) am much pleased.. :) think i did alright for functional, hope i can say the same for hormones, but ahh.. despite being an open-book test, it really drove me quite mad! congrats on surviving that week pple! :)

and yeah.. we celebrated by going over to Su Ghim's and Jastina's place for dinner! :) they made pasta - yummy! AND chocolate fondue - absolutely delicious!! :) hahaz.. and they took the time and effort to prepare the fruits as well.. thankew! :)

It's SPRING!! :) hahaz.. and it has really gotten a lot warmer over here.. miss the cold though!! :) but yupp.. it's 7am here and i'm blogging cuz the light in my room BLEW! and it died on me when i have 2 tests and 1 assignment due next week.. nicely done..

on a separate note, got to talk to junwei, yizhen and gim ann last week too.. was nice considering the time difference and that i haven't really chatted on msn for quite a bit.. but yeahh.. it really made me miss the pple tt i've spent the past 3 yrs of my life with.. we saw each other almost everyday, talked about everything we could think about.. studied together, makan-ed together, shopped together, celebrated birthdays together.. i don't exactly know how to describe it, but there's just this emptiness when u've been with this fantastic bunch of pple for so long and now u're not? but yeahh.. i'm learning to make new friends over here so hopefully it won't be that bad.. haha.. and like yasmin said, gotta get more aussie contacts cuz the majority of the numbers stored in our phones are the singapore ones! :) but having said that, u really have to be the one who initiates the conversation first.. :)

Greetings from Melbourne! :) hahaz.. the weather's finally getting better! yay! it was raining all day for the past 2-3 days i think.. so going to school was a drag.. especially for the 8am lectures!! if only we could sleep in for a while more.. haha :)

to amelia and yizhen.. sorry this post came so late.. haha.. just that i've been pretty busy lately and the workload's coming at a pace i can hardly keep up with! but my presentations are over so i have one less thing to worry about, but now there's an assignment and 2 tests!! That's how Uni's like I guess.. know u guys have quite a bit of reading to complete as well! all the best at school yeah? :)
